    Projects

    Projects keep related chats, sources, and instructions together. Every chat in a project can use the project's instructions, sources, and memory, so you don't have to re-upload files or repeat the background each time.

    How do I create a project?

    1. Select New project

      It's in the Projects section of the sidebar.

    2. Name it

      Project Name is required.

    3. Add instructions (optional)

      Tell Viro how to work in this project. You can add them later.

    4. Select Create Project

      Then start a chat inside it.

    What's in a project?

    • Chats — the conversations in this project
    • Sources — files, websites, YouTube videos, and notes Viro can draw on
    • Memory — facts about the project that Viro keeps across its chats
    • Instructions — how Viro should respond in this project

    How do I add sources?

    Open the project's Sources tab, then:

    • Upload files: PDF, TXT, Markdown (.md), CSV, or JSON. Drag them in or select them.
    • Add Website: paste a link and Viro reads the page.
    • Add YouTube Video: Viro uses the video's transcript.
    • Paste Text: add notes, with an optional title.

    Each source shows Processing… and then Ready. If one shows Failed, try adding it again.

    How do project instructions work?

    Instructions apply to every chat in the project, for example "Write for a nontechnical audience" or "Always cite the source document." They can be up to 1,200 characters and save automatically as you type.

    What do chats in a project share?

    Each chat gets the project's instructions, the parts of your sources that fit the question, and project memory. Viro adds to project memory from chats in the project, and you can add memories yourself in the Memory tab. Chats don't see each other's full conversations.

    How do I move a chat into a project?

    In the sidebar, open the chat's … menu and choose Move to project, or drag the chat onto the project. To take it out, choose Move to project > Remove from project.

    How do I rename or delete a project?

    Open the project's menu in the sidebar. Choose Rename to change its name, or Delete to remove the project and its sources. Deleting can't be undone, so move out any chats you want to keep first.

    Temporary Chat isn't available inside projects. For attaching files to individual chats, see Files & Uploads.
