Connect Jira and Viro can find and read your issues, file new ones, add comments, and change an issue's status. Nothing is created or changed until you confirm it.
- List the open issues assigned to you, the ones you created, or everything in a project
- Search issues by words, including closed ones when you ask
- Read an issue in full, with its description, labels, and newest 20 comments
- File a new issue in the project you name
- Add a comment to an issue
- Change an issue's status, for example mark it done or move it to In Progress
Viro can't:
- Edit an issue's title, description, assignee, or priority, or delete an issue
- Add attachments, or work with sprints and boards
- See issues or projects your Jira account can't see
- Connect to Jira Data Center or a self-hosted Jira (Jira Cloud only)
Open Customize > Connectors
Select Customize in the sidebar, then Connectors.Open Jira and select Connect to Viro
Sign in to your Atlassian account, choose the Jira site you want Viro to use, and select Accept.Check that it's connected
Back in Viro, Jira is listed under Yours.
Once it's connected, just ask in any chat. For example:
- "What's assigned to me in Jira?"
- "Show everything open in the Website project."
- "Summarize WEB-12 and its latest comments."
- "File a task in Website: the login button overlaps on iPad."
- "I finished WEB-12. Mark it done."
No. When you ask Viro to file an issue, comment, or change a status, it shows a card with exactly what it will do. Nothing happens in Jira until you select the card's button:
- Create issue files the issue. You can select Edit first to change the title or description.
- Post comment adds your comment, as you.
- Change status moves the issue. The card shows the move, for example In Progress → Done.
Select Cancel to drop it. After a change, the card shows Open in Jira so you can check it.
Tell Viro what happened, for example "I finished WEB-12" or "I started working on WEB-15," or name the status you want, such as "move WEB-12 to In Review." Viro can only make moves your project's workflow allows from the issue's current status. If the move isn't possible, it tells you which statuses the issue can move to. If your board has more than one finished status, it asks which one you mean.
A comment never changes an issue's status. Ask for the status change itself.
A Task. If your project has no Task type, Viro uses Story, then Bug, then the project's first standard type. If you have more than one project, name the one you want or Viro asks. Some projects require extra fields on every new issue. Viro can't fill those in, so the card reports that something isn't right, and you'll need to create that issue in Jira.
Viro works with the site you choose on Atlassian's screen when you connect. To switch to a different site, disconnect Jira and connect again, choosing the other one.
Atlassian shows that notice for apps it hasn't finished reviewing. Viro asks for three things: to read your Jira issues and projects, to create and change issues, and to see your Jira user profile. It uses the second only for the changes you confirm on a card.
Yes. If you also connect GitHub or Linear, Viro lists your issues from all of them together and labels where each one came from. A list shows up to 50 issues, most recently updated first.
See all connectors.
Can Viro mark a Jira issue as done?
Yes. Tell Viro you finished it, or name the status you want. It shows a card with the change, and the status moves when you select Change status.
Does Viro change Jira without asking?
No. Filing an issue, commenting, and changing a status each show a card first. Nothing happens in Jira until you confirm.
Does Viro work with Jira Data Center?
No. Viro connects to Jira Cloud sites only.
