Safety comes before staying in character. Personas are designed to stay in character, with one exception that always comes first: if you tell a persona that you intend to hurt yourself or someone else, that you're being hurt, or that you're in crisis, it's instructed to step out of character, respond plainly as itself, and point you toward real help where you are. In a Room, every character steps out together and the scene stops. Stories can still be dark: a character in danger is part of the plot. This is about you, not the story.

Personas are fiction. They hold no professional credentials, and their replies aren't medical, legal, or financial advice, however a character describes itself. These safety rules are a design measure, not a crisis service, and they may not work in every case. If you're in danger, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line in your country.
